Egg-cellent Rhythm Practice PDFs: Bundled Set

These interactive PDFs ARE all they’re cracked up to be and your students will do an “egg-cellent” job reading rhythms in these engaging rhythm games! Simply play the PDF as you would a PowerPoint, click on the links that will guide you to the different egg patterns. These can be played as a whole group reading exercise, as a game in which the class is divided into groups and they try to successfully read the most eggs or via iPads or laptops in small groups. Additionally, you can try having the students play the rhythms on non-pitched percussion instruments or they can play the rhythms while improvising melodies on the barred instruments.

These can be used anytime of year in correlation with song literature, ie. “Chicken on a Fencepost,” “Chicks and Geese,” “Shanghai Chicken,” “Who Stole My Chicken and My Hens?,” to name a few…..

Included in this file are PDFs that practice 12 different rhythms and a total of 42 PDF files!!

There are two PDFs for the following concepts, with one written in stick notation with note heads and one written in traditional stick notation. All the PDFs are written in 2/4 meter:

ta ti-ti

half note

There are four PDFs for the following concepts, written in stick notation with note heads and in traditional stick notation for both 2/4 meter and 4/4 meter:

Music Egg Race Game: Melodic Bundle

Every “bunny” loves an Egg Race and you’re students will have a fun time in this fast paced solfége/solfa clef game.

To play, cards will be scattered in the middle of the room. Students will sit in a line with their team around the perimeter of the room (2-4 teams are ideal.) The teacher will sing or play a pattern and one member from each time will race to find the card that matches. Teams will try to collect as many eggs as they can.

Differentiation is made easy with this game: to make the game easier, the teacher will sing the patter on solfége and use stick notation cards. To make it cards, the teachers can use staff notation cards. To make it even harder, the teacher can sing the patter on “loo” or a neutral syllable or even play the patterns on instruments.

Included in this file are:

* Staff notation cards in the key of F with the do clef (for all games except the so-mi and la versions)

* Staff notation cards in the key of G with the do clef (for all games except the so-mi and la versions)

* Staff notation cards in the key of F without the do clef

* Staff notation cards in the key of G without the do clef

* Stick notation cards without note heads

* Stick notation cards with note heads

Music Egg Race Game: Rhythm Bundled Set

Every “bunny” loves an Egg Race and you’re students will have a fun time in this fast paced rhythm decoding game.

To play, cards will be scattered in the middle of the room. Students will sit in a line with their team around the perimeter of the room (2-4 teams are ideal.) The teacher will clap or play a pattern and one member from each time will race to find the card that matches. Teams will try to collect as many eggs as they can.

Differentiation is made easy with this game: to make the game easier, the teacher will clap and say the rhythm for the easiest version (these are not specific to any rhythmic duration syllable system so you will easily be able to make it work for your students). To make it harder, the teacher can clap the rhythms only or play the patterns on an instrument.

Included in this file are 11 sets. Each set includes:

* Stick notation cards without note heads

* Stick notation cards with note heads

Rhythmic files included in this bundle:

Music Egg Race Game: Treble Clef Versions

Every “bunny” loves an Egg Race and you’re students will have a fun time in this fast paced treble clef game.

To play, cards will be scattered in the middle of the room. Students will sit in a line with their team around the perimeter of the room (2-4 teams are ideal.) The teacher will call a word or note name and one member from each time will race to find the card that matches. Teams will try to collect as many eggs as they can.

Because of the large number of cards in this file you can tailor this to meet the needs of your students. You will use individual note cards or 2-3 letter word cards for beginning treble clef readers and words with more letters for advanced readers.

Included are “calling” cards that can also be used as a matching game as centers!
