Students frequently use "um", "like", and "right" in their oral responses. I created a category of words "garbage words" that students are not allowed to use when answering a question. It started out as a joke until I realized how important public speaking is and how important confidence is in teaching students to speak in front of others without these "filler words". As a reminder, I created these signs. They are downloadable via zip file.
These decorations are fully aligned with Common Core standards based around speaking and listening in the appropriate grade/mind set.
