This is a 540 slide PowerPoint presentation with built-in class notes (red slides), hands-on activities, challenge questions with answers, built-in quizzes, links, projects, 3 page homework, 4 pages of follow along classwork sheets, answer key, one page lesson notes, and more. Many hands on activities included.
A new 172 slide PowerPoint review game concludes this unit for a fantastic review of the entire lesson bundle. Answers and game template sheet are provided.
This PowerPoint begins with Charles Law. A visual of a balloon over a warm candle helps to explain V, T, and K. A neat demonstration with two balloons submerged in warm and cold water is provided with set-up and follow-up questions. Avogadro's Law is then explained. An activity with a fizz keep and a balloon and thermometer is described with visuals and post activity questions with answers. Boyles Law is then described. The relationship between pressure and volume is then explained again in a step by step slide sequence. An activity with syringes are described. A series of temperature and pressure slides are presented along with the classic drinking bird. Animated bird is shown if you don't have one. A brief disclaimer about contents under pressure and dangers of combustibles is described. PV=nrt is described and a link to a gas simulator is provided. An activity is provided where students put a small face on a balloon an play around a bit with Pascals Law on a confined fluid. Building a hydraulic syringe drive activity is included with instructions and follow-up questions and answers. Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids are described and neat video links provided and challenge questions series. Directions on how to make Goop and Obleck (corn starch and water) are provided and video links. Viscosity is described and an activity called the condiment Olympics is provided with directions for set-up. Students time several common condiments of varying viscosity time to travel down an inclined plane. Follow-up questions and answers are provided. Archimedes Principle is then discussed and a neat activity which requires students to make a boat from a block of modeling clay. Weights are then placed on the boat to determine which boat is the most buoyant. The final activity in the PowerPoint has the students build a Cartesian Diver. Directions, Follow-up questions, and written assignment is provided. This is a great activity that draws upon Boyles Law, Pascals Law, and Archimedes Principle. This is a really neat PowerPoint that includes many great hands-on activities. Note: This is a nice introductory lesson and not intended for upper level chemistry.
This PowerPoint includes critical notes (Red Slides), exciting visuals, challenge questions, activities with directions and more. Text is usually placed at the top of the slide so it can be read from all angles of a classroom. Color coded slides, as well as a shade technique is used to increase student focus and allows the teacher to control the pace of the lesson. These PowerPoints are meant to be interactive as possible and ask many questions, provides built in review opportunities, explains directions to activities, and much more. Transition effects are never used.
Note: The Viscosity Olympics Lesson is included in this PowerPoint so please do not purchase.
