This packet asks students to do some higher order thinking with The Great Gatsby. For each chapter, students have a few pages to complete which asks them to:
- List five plot points
- Choose a significant quote and explain its significance
- Choose one character to discuss, including finding a significant quote from/about them, list their best/worst traits and identify their role in the chapter or novel
- Identify a symbol from the chapter
- Denote the definitions to five vocabulary words
There is also a section towards the end of the packet to rank the characters from "best" to "worst" as well as compare multiple elements from the novel to the 2013 film version.
While working with my students, I turn this into a little flip booklet that they can carry around for the whole unit!
