This is a gender music analysis assignment for an introduction to sociology course. This can either be a two day assignment where student's pick a song that either positively or negatively reflects gender in our society. Students select a piece of music that says something about gender in our society. They analyze the song and lyrics and write a response. The next day in class they play and then present their song to the class. It makes for a really interesting discussion about what different forms of media says about our social expectations for gender. It was designed in word and can be adapted for your classroom. It has a rubric provided to make grading easier.
