PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Genealogy Project US HISTORY

"Very detailed and well-thought out resource, complete with alternative project options. I found it very helpful.'

UPDATED: I just added a bunch of pictures from this years projects. I have also added a primary source document cover sheet for the project when it gets turned in.

A couple of years ago I was sitting on a couch thinking about my family and where they might have come from. I was also wondering if all the things my dad had told me were true about my family. I decided to take it upon my self to find out. This is the result of 7 years of working on this project to finally get it dialed in.

What is included:

-The Genealogy Project
-The City Project- Alternative for kids who cannot do the GP
-Rubric
-Summary of Instruction for kids
-Pedigree Chart

A couple of years ago I was really frustrated by the lack of learning that was going on in my classroom. I really wanted my students to take something away from the class that would impact them for life. I did not want them to just have a pretty poster or something that would find its way to the trash can. I thought since people's heritage is personal and is timeless that it would make a great case study into the families in my American History class. The students have been really excited about this project as I have been doing this project for a number of years now. It has opened communication doors with the local library and with the parents and grandparents of these incredible kids. I know they may not care about their heritage now, but they will as they get older. If you have any questions please email me as I have worked really hard on this semester long project. hwork50@gmail.com
