This advanced comprehension task is designed to be used by the advanced and gifted students in your classroom as a reading activity. As all gifted information indicates, advanced/gifted students need to incorporate “products” that include Blooms’ levels of application, analysis, evaluation, and creativity in their individual or station type work. The rubric is designed so the student knows the expectation and for ease in getting a grade. I found if I added the word “COMPREHENSION” to the grade book, differentiated task’s grades could all be listed under one column (low to high student work.) This type of differentiated tasks help parents see that their child is being challenged.
