*Access to the internet and/or research books required!*
One of my students' FAVORITE research projects of the year is the genetic disorders project. This project would be a great extension after they have mastered the basics of genetics (how traits are passed, dominant/recessive genes, etc.)
For this project, students will select a genetic disorder (a list of 32 genetic disorders is included!) and research important information about the disorder such as:
*Basic Info: Other names, how it's inherited, etc.
*Physical Effect of the disorder
*How it's inherited & detection
This guide gives students over 20 prompts to research to learn about the disorder. An area for online resource citing is used at the end of each section! This is a great individual activity that your students will be SUPER engaged in!
As an extension, your students can use the information learned in their research guide to CREATE something to present their information: brochures, speeches, posters, iMovies, etc.
A teacher support page is included along with my e-mail address in case you have any other questions!
Would also be a great homeschool project & very easy to understand for higher grade special education!
