In this activity, the teacher guides students through an extension activity following or introducing a genetics unit. It is best used with the "genetics controversies guide". Students (with the guidance of the teacher) explore the following genetics controversies: genetically modified foods, selective breeding, genetic engineering, designer babies, cloning and nature versus nurture. This gives real-world meaning to the genetics unit in a way that will give students meaning and relevance for the unit and deepen student understanding. The activity includes a series of video clips, reflections, and group discussion questions.
