Are you looking for a new way to review material with your students before an upcoming exam? Consider having your students create a study guide foldable! For this activity, students will create a learning tool to assist them in reviewing key genetics concepts, which can then be taken home and used as a study guide. Genetics concepts included in this foldable are the following: DNA, RNA, Protein Synthesis, Genetic Mutations, Genetic Engineering, and DNA Gel Electrophoresis.
How a Foldable is Created:
Students first fill in the relevant information on the "note side" of the paper. Then, they fold the paper along the dotted lines, and cut along the solid lines, to create an interactive study tool. When each "flap" is opened, it will reveal the pertinent information underneath. In this way, students can quiz themselves on one topic at a time! This foldable also includes a coloring component on the cover. Students will follow a specific color code to color in each component of the DNA double helix.
When printing out the foldable, it is essential that it is printed double sided. When selecting printing options, select "flip pages on short edge" in order to have it print out correctly.
