Product Description
This is a packet of supplemental material to go with a unit on genetics and heredity. There are 21 words for a word wall provided with both a blue background and a white background. There are five comprehension pages on twins, DNA, cloning, hemophilia, and Gregor Mendel. Included are three pages of five-minute warm up activities students complete at the start of a lesson or as a review. Also included is an “I have…who has” activity packet can be done as a class activity for review of material learned.

If you have purchased the “I have…who has” activity or the warm-up activity separately, DO NOT purchase this unit. These items will be doubles.

This packet is designed to be supplemental material to your unit. It does not include lesson plans or enough material to teach a unit on genetics and heredity.

The word wall includes words commonly associated with this type of material.

All comprehension activities are written between the 6th and 8th grade level according to Flesch-Kincaid. Please download the preview for a sample of the writing style. After the readings, there are three to four questions and require everything from simple recall to stating and supporting an opinion. They are perfect for station activities, a warm-up, or a quick homework assignment.

The warm-up activities are designed to take about five minutes. There are four per page for a total of 12 activities total.

The “I have..who has” activity is great for review of material. Play it as a whole class over several days and have students time themselves to assess improvement.

This material corresponds to the Next Generation Science Standards under the Growth, Development, and Reproduction of Organisms.
