In this interactive webquest, students will visit various websites and videos to work their way through Mongol conquest. Starting with the life of Temujin Khan and ending with the Yuan Dynasty, students will answer questions, fill in maps and charts, complete a RAFT assignment all culminating in a final writing response in which they are to evaluate whether the Mongols had a positive or negative impact on society using information from the sources they explored during the webquest.
This assignment will span at least 2-3 days and requires internet research and possibly work to be completed at home.
Topic covered include:
-A general overview of Temujin and how he grew to become Genghis Khan
-Mapping Genghis Khan's empire
-Mongol battle strategies and government reforms
-Yuan Dynasty and life under Khubilai Khan
-BBC Video (1 hour in length) that provides an overview of the entire webquest
The webquest has been left in Word format that you may edit it to meet your needs. All website links have been provided embedded within the word document.
This could be used as a group project or be broken up into stations. For older students, the writing requirement could be increased from two paragraphs to a full scale essay.
