Students will be using their knowledge on genotype, phenotype as well as dominant and recessive alleles. Students will be drawing alleles from the parent insects and from there determining the phenotype of the offspring insect. Once students have completed the activity and data table they will be creating a "newspaper" article explaining their discovery as well as drawing the insect with all the traits they discovered from the activity.
The cut out alleles are included for the teacher. Teachers will cut out alleles into two bags, a papa insect and a momma insect bag where students will draw an allele to help build their insect.
Very interactive and fun activity for students! I always love seeing how crazy and interesting the insects turn out looking.
