Want to do a reading challenge but not sure where to start? Here is all you need to run a nina-inspired genre-focused reading challenge. As the teacher, you are the Sensei, and your students are Ninjas-in-Training seeking to become Ninja Masters by reading 25 books total. You can make the challenge year long or focused on a specific time period. You could even group students and have them work on the challenge together rather than individually.
For this challenge, students receive badges for their ninja's (and for themselves) when they attain certain levels (of which there are 5).
Included in this product are:
Introductory Letter to Student
Instructions for Sensei
Instructions for Student
Genre Dojo with Genre Categories to Choose From
Training Table where student keeps track of their reading progress
Training Manual filled with authentic activities from which students must choose to
show they did indeed read their book (and to create a conversation and culture of
reading in your classroom!)
A black-and-white Ninja for students to cut out, decorate/design, and then pin their
badges to as they win them
A full sheet of badges for printing, cutting, and passing out as students attain levels
The Genre Dojo could be turned into a poster and the students' ninjas could be displayed on a bulletin board so everyone can keep track of how much they are reading!
