Here's a way for students to interact with various genres and their meanings. Students paste a title on top flap, and arrange fiction and nonfiction literary works on 10 flaps which follow. Then once opened, a description of the genre will appear. Have students then record the year's titles for readings or writings in the inner part of the flap book.
Therefore, the top of the flap contains the genre name, further, on the inner flap part a description will be added and on the upper part of the flap a place for titles of genres students have either read or written may be added, or a short summary of said book type.
This is a sure way for students to learn and understand the various characteristics of what they read.
Students can decorate the flap book throughout the year and make it their own.
12 blank pages will be needed to create one book, or the teacher may wish to select genres for students to include.
Resource is given in color and black and white.
Students will require paste, 8 X 11 paper, scissors, and markers.
