I decided this year I am going to kick the reading log habit. I have found reading logs to become monotonous, and fifth grade really does not buy into the benefit of reading at home as easily as younger students. Therefore, this year I am going to try something different. I am going to give students a reading passport each month, and I am not going to set a time limit on the amount of time they read. Rather, I am going to ask them to complete the passport for a reward! Those rewards are going to be simple things like, extra recess, PE helper pass, lunch in the room, computer time....the possibilities are endless! I want students to become involved with their reading, not just set a timer and hope that it's over soon! Hopefully you find this resource useful!! My plan is to try this first round out in September and if it works, I will be adding more variations of this passport to my store! Happy Back to School Month!
