This set of 23 Anchor Charts is designed to help you, the teacher, with a genre study of the various reading and writing genres your students will encounter during the course of the literary year.
There are two types of charts in here. One that is blank, intended for the students to fill in. The second is filled in with information that you, as the teacher, can use to help guide your lesson.
On each chart, the students will be asked:
A definition of the genre
List of common traits found within the genre
Vocabulary specific to that genre
A list of books read within the genre
The Anchor Charts are organized with the student page first, followed by notes for the teacher to use when conducting the guided lesson. You may use these to help you teach your students about the specific traits that can be found within each genre. The student pages are then intended to be placed inside a reading notebook or language arts folder for future student reference. You can also blow them up to create a class chart to hang on your walls for future reference.
There are 15 Fiction Anchor Charts:
There are also 8 Non-Fiction Anchor Charts:
As well as two blank forms for you to use if you have a genre you want to teach specific to your curriculum that is not included.
