This genre resource can be used as an introductory lesson, review, assessment, or as task cards for ELA literacy centers or stations. Read on to see all that's included!

First, you can use the ten slide genre presentation - in either PDF or PowerPoint - that you can project to the class to review or introduce ten different genres with a definition of each.

You can then continue to project the 23 questions that follow, with the answer slide immediately after each question. For this portion, I recommend having students write their answers down on whiteboards to make it an interactive activity. Or you can use a blank sheet of paper and have the students number it 1-23.

If you’d rather use this as independent work or a center activity, the genre files have been included as task cards as well. You can put the ten definition task cards on a ring for students to review. Then let students answer the 23 task cards. An answer sheet with all the answers on one page is also included. You can write the correct answer on the back of each task card if you’d like, or give that sheet to students to they can check themselves.
