This 11 page Independent Reading Assignment is to be used side by side with a student's independent reading book. The genre writing book review assignment explores ALL genres and asks students to think about what devices an author uses to showcase the specific genre of the book they have read.

Then, students will write a book review describing the plot, and students' job is to be critical of their book and dissect it so that future readers will use student opinion to help them decide whether they want to read that type of book or not.
