Product Description
If you teach imperialism during the year, then you need to introduce your students to this wonderful fable by Jomo Kenyatta, independence leader in Kenya during the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. "The Gentlemen in the Jungle" can be found as a pdf from a quick search online and my product is an analysis guide for your students to use after reading to help them make connections between the fable and history. There is also a modified version of the fable and analysis guide that I created for lower-level readers when I taught a mixed-model classroom.

This is aligned with 6th grade Georgia social studies standard SS6H6d, but can be adapted for older students as well. This resource is also an awesome opportunity for any of you literature/reading teachers out there to use a fable to make connections between literature and history!
