Students will love this task card activity. It gets your kids up and out of their seats! They will practice partitioning shapes into halves, fourths and eighths.
Students will use geoboards to create the shapes given on the task cards and then partition them based on how many parts the task card tells them to make. On a recording sheet, they will draw a picture of what their partitioned shape looked like and name the parts.
If you don't have geoboards, you can use dot paper. These can be printed for free online. :)
This game can be played together as a class, in partners,
individually or in groups. As a quick check, give each student one
card and have them create the shape and partition it, then have the
student tell you name of the parts.
Also meets TEKS 2.3A - PARTITION objects into equal parts and NAME the parts,
including 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8, USING words
