44-pages of activities to help meet the Georgia Performance Standards:
SS5G1 The student will locate important places in the United States.
Locate important physical features; include the Grand Canyon, Salton Sea, Great Salt Lake, and Mojave Desert.
Locate important man-made places; include the Chisholm Trail; Pittsburgh, PA; Gettysburg, PA; Kitty Hawk, NC; Pearl Harbor, HI; and Montgomery, AL.
This set includes a 15-page black and white printable "workbook" for locating the places mentioned in the standards above. These pages can be joined together as a workbook for students to complete, or given individually on a daily basis -- like a geography of the day type task.
Also included are sets of cards for each location. There are four cards included in each set -- a card with the name of the location, a card with a photo of the location, a card with a map of the location, and a card describing the significance of the location as it pertains to the fifth-grade Georgia Performance Standards for social studies. These cards can be used as a card sort or matching/memory activity. Instructions for a game called Head of the Class are also included to use specifically with the cards printed with the name of the location.
There are 32 multiple choice/short answer task cards with a recording sheet. Great review for the CRCT or other state assessments.
In addition there is a final 15 question assessment requiring students to locate places on the U.S. map.
A great way to prep for the test and give students a better geographic understanding both manmade and natural places.
