I believe there is no better way to learn something than to really get your hands into it and create that which you are trying to learn. Geography lends itself to doing this and this lesson was created for just that: getting your hand DIRTY!!!!!
The kids use an age old recipe to create salt dough. They use the salt dough to form their own country/continent/city and they get to name everything in it! Included with the lesson is daily instructions on the project, what they are to included in their final creation, and a list of materials to create it.
This is one of my students' favorite projects of the year because they not only get to sculpt something out of nothing, but everything they are sculpting they came up with!
