This is a summative writing assessment for a unit about geography, map reading, and climate change. It begins with two brief document analyses: the first document shows a map of the countries most affected by climate change and the second document is a text explaining the severe impacts of climate change on Africa. Each document has a short writing question attached. Then, students are asked to write a "short essay" connecting the two documents to one another.
This task is aligned to structure of the New York State regents exams, and asks students to engage in rigorous thinking work!
