Geography is so important! AND it’s not included in many curricula. BUT students need to know the physical and political make-up of their planet--cities, states, countries, continents, oceans, seas, rivers, and mountain ranges. SO here is the beginning of a series of Geography Questions, starting with the U.S. and expanding to the world.
I write a question on the board every day. While I'm taking attendance, students copy the question and use the atlas in their social studies text to answer the question. They keep the paper until they have answered five questions (one week; I double-up in short weeks), then turn it in for a grade. My students end the year knowing FAR MORE than their grade-level peers about the geography of their world. Geography questions are graded easily and quickly, and you have a grade for each week. More questions will be available in packet form soon.
