The 110+ page unit covers the Five Themes of Geography, Map Types and Purposes, and Using Maps. It introduces or reviews the basic mapping concepts. Includes a complete unit plan, interactive lecture PowerPoint with complete teacher notes for each slide (on power-point slide screen in bottom screen), student activities, and a Bingo review game.
Student activities are cooperative and utilize reading skills, map reading, and investigative abilities. Activities include all resources, including online materials, articles, maps, and charts, and also provided is a student handout or graphic organizer for each lesson activity.
Designed for a Geography course as the first unit, but great for the introduction or review of Geography. Used in a freshman course, but easily modified for any middle to high school level. Very multiple intelligences and varied in activities and skill levels.
