Geography: Journey Bear Visits the 7 Continents BUNDLE
Each year I found that I had less and less time to teach social studies and my students had little to no understanding of the world around them. I wanted to find a way that would make learning about geography and the world interesting, knowing that it couldn’t take up a lot of time. That's how Journey Bear was born. At the beginning of the week I revealed the clues to my students and set the poster up as a research station. Students researched the clues and wrote their predictions on slips of paper placed into a box. At the end of the week I would pull a names out of the box, and we would talk about strategies for putting the clues together to determine the country where Journey Bear visited that week. I have used these resources for students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Yes, even fifth graders love Journey Bear!
Use it to teach non fiction research, making connections, or even as a writing prompt. The possibilities are endless.
For the PYP, it's a great way to practice the attitude curiosity and being an inquirer (learner profile).
