This is a geography unit based on Australia.
It is comprised of five lessons that aim to meet the requirements of five separate geography outcomes from the Australian Curriculum.
Each lesson has the capability to go for the duration of 60 minutes.
Some lessons may require access to additional resources (such as an Interactive Whiteboard).
The outcomes for these lessons have been based on content descriptors for a Year 3 level, however they have be made and better suited for use right through Year 4, 5 and 6.
The outcomes attempted to be met in each lesson include:
Lesson 1: The representation of Australia as states and territories, and Australia’s major natural and human features (ACHGK014)
Lesson 2: The many Countries/Places of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples throughout Australia (ACHGK015)
Lesson 3: The location of Australia’s neighbouring countries and their diverse characteristics (ACHGK016)
Lesson 4: The main climate types of the world and the similarities and differences between the climates of different places (ACHGK017)
Lesson 5: The similarities and differences in individuals’ and groups’ feelings and perceptions about places, and how they influence views about the protection of these places (ACHGK018)
