The Earth formed almost 4.6 billion years ago which is an offensive amount of time. Help your students understand how much time this actually is by having them build a geologic timeline! In part one of this activity, students are asked to draw a timeline using an animated online timeline as a reference. In this part they will learn, among other things, that T. rex is closer in time to eating Justin Bieber than to eating a Stegosaurus.
In the second part, the students are asked to use several different sources to determine when various evolutionary milestones occurred. They then compare these sources with the original animated timeline to help them understand the importance of finding appropriate sources. Includes graphic organizer.
Perfect for 1:1 classrooms that use Chromebooks or laptops but also suited to traditional classrooms with access to computers. For those who are using Google Drive, these files are easily uploaded and shared with the students.
