Students will construct the medians of a triangle, find the point of concurrency (called the centroid) and verify through constructions that this point of concurrency divides each median into 2 segments, the portion between the centroid and midpoint is 1/3 the length of the median and the portion between the centroid and vertex is 2/3 the length of the median.

Instructions:
Draw Triangle ABC
Construct the midpoints of the three sides of triangle ABC.
Connect each vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side to create the three medians.
Verify through constructions that the point of concurrency (called the centroid) divides each median so that 1/3 the length of each median is between the centroid and midpoint and 2/3 of the median is between the centroid and vertex of the triangle.
