Description
This lesson teaches students about the geometric transformation of rotations.
This resource may be used in the classroom or for distance learning as students can check their answers as they learn.
Learning Targets:
•Rotate a preimage about a point, given a center and degree measure.
•Find the center of rotation and degree measure.
•Use function notation to describe a rotation.
Materials: device with internet, google account, straightedge, compass, paper, protractor
In this lesson, students will be introduced to 2 different ways to complete a rotation:
•Rotate using a protractor, compass and straightedge
•Geometry Software
Students will next learn about finding the center of rotation and angle measure when given a preimage and its image.
Finally, students learn how to describe a rotation using function notation.
NOTES:
•If you would not like your students to have the answers to grade as they go, simply delete those slides before sharing the file with your students.
•Note: Lesson format is compatible with Google slides®
•Answer keys included
•Pages: 44 slides + 22 pages investigation, 4 teacher note pages
•Duration: 90 minutes
