This is a double-sided notes page over geometric sequences using function notation.
This is written to introduce geometric sequences to the beginning algebra 1 student.
The notes page begins by using patterns of numbers to introduce the topic. The student identifies the next number in the sequence and then describes the pattern. There are four examples. Next, the definition is introduced and the exponential function equation and notation is explained.
Four examples follow after that where the student is given the sequence and is asked to identify the first term, the common ratio and the explicit equation, written in function form, that would generate the sequence. Two more examples follow where the student uses a given formula written in function notation and generates the first four terms of a sequence.
The back explains geometric sequences written as recursive functions. The student is given a recursive formula and is asked to find the first four terms of the sequence. To help expedite this process a table of steps is filled in. (See preview). Key included.
