PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This Smartboard based lesson is designed to engage students in discovering the relationship of the angles formed by parallel lines and transversals.

The Do Now has students engaged in drawing parallel lines and then comparing all acute angles and all obtuse angles. Then they do the same with two non parallel lines cut by a transversal to find that only the vertical angles are congruent.

Next they match names of angles: alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, vertical angles, corresponding angles, and consecutive interior angles.

Then two slides are designed to engage students in solving numerous problems for the missing angles. You can move various angle measures into different angles in the pictures.

The activity is designed to be used with communicator clearboards (www.educatorsoutlet.com) or Smartpals (www.eaieducation.com) or can be done with patty paper.

A pdf file contains a full set of directions for using the smart notebook file.

If you do not have a Smartboard, but you do have a Promethean board or a projector attached to your computer, you can still use this product by using Smart Notebook Interactive Viewer. This program is a free download from www.smarttech.com . You can operate the screen with the pens on the Promethean board or a mouse when use the projector.
