Do you want to engage students with a STEM integration of basic geometry vocab? Then this activity pack is for you! I use it in the first couple days of class to engage students in what is usually a very boring concept - basic geometry vocab: points, lines, planes, segments, etc.
Students will first complete a coordinate plane mystery picture of common August Northern Hemisphere constellations. This allows you to discuss how astronomers use simple geometric concepts such as segments, lines, rays, and collinear stars to produce constellations.
I then have students complete the half-sheet of 2D to 3D constellations. This provides students the opportunity to practice identifying collinear points, coplanar points, and intersections of points, lines, and planes.
See the preview for a snapshot of everything that is included!
Please don't forget to come back and let me know how you enjoyed using this activity with your students. I would love to get your feedback, and you earn TpT credit! If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you!
