Description

Students love the intrigue of a good mystery. In this lighthearted digital activity made to work with Google Drive and/or Google Classroom, students will help Detective L.A. Mentary figure out which suspects committed the crimes by using/practicing their skills with solving midpoint and distance problems.

Each set of 3 problems requires your junior detectives to solve problems like:

1) finding midpoint given the graph of a segment.

2) finding midpoint given the coordinates of the endpoints of a segment.

3) finding distance given the graph of a segment.

4) finding distance given the coordinates of the endpoints of a segment.

The correct answers lead them to clues that help them to solve a 3x4 logic puzzle. Then, the results are recorded in a "case solved" page at the end.

There is a student version and a teacher version (with key) made available for easy copying to your own Google Drive.

I am and have been a high school Geometry teacher for 20+ years, and this activity has been used in my classroom with much enjoyment by my students and myself.
