For this project students will create their very own Geometric City. All of their streets, buildings, and other things must be creatively named and relate to the theme you choose (ex: sports, animals, presidents, etc.)
When they create and name their buildings, they must include all the things a real city would need such as a fire station, police station, grocery store, library, court house, gas station, post office, etc. For students that need more of a challenge, they may also include extra buildings, but only after they have all the essential buildings drawn and labeled first.
Before creating their final project, they will make a rough draft of their map on graph paper. They will use the rough draft to sketch out where things will go on their final map.
This resource would be great as an extension activity in third grade or a review in fifth grade as well! It could also be used as a math center or a fun activity at the end of the year.
This is part of my large Geometry Unit that you can find in my store! I try to answer all questions and comment on feedback. I appreciate all the teachers taking time to leave feedback, thank you and enjoy!
