This packet contains 12 find the area of the shaded region problems. These are challenging problems that are appropriate for a high school geometry course.
In order to be successful with these problems, students must be able to find the area of a square, triangle, rectangle, trapezoid and circle. They should be familiar with special right triangles and the Pythagorean Theorem. They should understand how to find the area of a composite figure. They should be able to find the area of an entire figure and then subtract out the missing pieces.
