Product Description
Put aside the worksheets and get your students working together and up and moving with this Geometry Math Circle. This Math Circle is similar to the format of my Drama Circles, in which students follow the directions on their cards, with each card following another. Students must pay attention to the task because they need to watch for their turns. This math circle follows the same premise, but students are asked to make or model different geometry concepts. For some cards students are asked to work alone, while other cards ask the student to choose a partner or small group. The Math Circle can be completed anywhere the students have a bit of space. They could make a circle in the classroom or the gym, or if the weather is nice, why not take it outside?

On these cards, students are asked to make or model different geometry concepts covering shapes (2D and 3D), angles, symmetry, congruent and similar shapes, rotation and reflection, parallel and intersecting lines, rays and line segments, etc. Students are to make these shapes using their bodies, feet, hands, fingers, or legs. Students will either work alone, with a partner, or a small group, according to the directions on the card (so you can match the needs of your students to the task according to the directions on the cards). Some cards ask the students to simply make the shape, others ask them to figure out what shape to make, and still others ask them to prove their shape is correct or to justify their thinking.

I have also included a "teacher follow-along sheet" that summarizes all concepts to be modelled, and how they are to be modelled.
