This unit introduces students to key concepts in Geometry including exploration activies and memory games to learn what are polygons, prisms, pyramids and determining if an object has symmetry.

This unit includes:

- learning the 3 rules that make a shape a polygon (closed figure, straight line, 2D)

- sorting shapes, polygons vs. not polygons

- learning the names of different polygons

- learning to differenciate between pyramids and prisms and how to name them

- looking at how to identify the number of faces, vertices and edges a 3D shape has

- seeing the mathematical patterns that help you figure out the number of faces,

vertices and edges pyramids and prisms have

- learning how to draw nets for pyramids and prisms

- identifying the lines of symmetry in polygons
