If it's time for your kiddos to dip a toe in the geometry pool, this set is perfect for you! It allows them to practice naming polygons, identifying ordered pairs on a coordinate grid, finding perimeters of polygons, and determining the shortest distance between points on a coordinate grid. The game SCOOT is a great way to practice!
Have you ever played SCOOT? My students love it! It is a way to practice skills while integrating movement! I give each student a sheet (included in this packet) on which to write their answers, and I set one card on each desk (sometimes I need to use the back table, too!). Students spend 30-45 seconds at each card, silently solving the problem and recording their answer. I have a chime I ring, which means “Rotate!” Or I just say “Scoot!” It is engaging because it is quick, fun, novel, and they NEED to stay focused in order to be successful!
These cards could also be used as a math center, or on the overhead for whiteboard practice. I recommend laminating so they can be used for years to come!
Thank you for purchasing this packet!
