Description

Talk to students about all the different items in their environments that are either 2-d or 3-d shapes. There are angles, lines, and planes. There are triangles, circles, squares, and rectangles. There are spheres, cubes, and cylinders.

Have them brainstorm about all the different things they’ve learned about geometry and put them up on the board. They may know about angle measures. They may know about parallel lines or perpendicular lines.

Now their task is to go around the classroom and make notes on everything they see that is a geometric shape or that shows a geometric property.
