This is a task on the concept of Using and Applying the Pythagorean Theorem.
This is a 6 page team task. In this task students will take turns as "Student Teacher" and "Team Mathematician". Students will use color-coding and identify the parts of a right triangle on a diagram and set up an equation and solve.
Students will determine if the given triangle is a right triangle by applying the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem.
Students will solve complex triangle figures finding two different missing sides.
There are two Pythagorean Theorem real world situation word problems. Students will draw an illustration of the real world situation and analyze and reason to solve the problem.
Students will explain how they determined their reasoning in complete sentences.

*** My "Team Tasks" are created to be completed in Teams of four. Each student is a team member: Team Member (A), Team Member (B), Team Member (C), and Team Member (D). Each team member is required to participate regularly throughout the "Team Task" as Team Mathematician. My cooperative learning "Team Tasks" require the students to be actively involved throughout the entire "Team Task". The Role of "Team Mathematician" alternates throughout the "Team Task". My "Team Tasks" are designed to elicit mathematical discourse within the teams.
