This project enlists the students to work in groups to create a line dance (i.e the cha cha slide, electric slide, etc...) that will showcase the 3 geometric transformations: translation, reflection, and rotation. This creative activity allows the students to demonstrate what they've learned about geometric transformations in an innovative and fun manner. This is not your traditional project and is a great way to get your students actively involved with these mathematical concepts. I've assigned this project every year and my students love it. I'm always amazed by what they come up with.
Included in this project is a list of requirements for the students to follow, project submission form, peer analysis, student reflection, and rubric (scoring tool). In addition to these items, I've also included a list of possible discussion questions you as the teacher can ask the students during or after the project has been assigned.
