This all-encompassing, two day lesson plan is aimed to serve all of your needs! It targets student learning at the beginning of the geometry unit, building on what was learned in Kindergarten and expanding on it. Through modeling, guided practice, and math games, students are sure to have fun while they learn through this hands on, differentiated approach.
Common Core State Standards:
Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.
Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.1
Use appropriate tools strategically.
-Two fully scripted consecutive lesson plans
-Detailed assessments that coincide with each day's student objective
-Instructional recommendations based on assessment results
-Worksheets with 3 differentiated variations of each
