In this 3 page document, students will practice rotating spaces around the x and y axis. The shapes rotated are either rectangles or triangles.
Students are then asked to find the volume of the solid shape formed. (3D shapes that are formed are either cylinders or cones)
I find that students have a difficult time with this type of problem in calculus, and so I like to cover it a little bit in Geometry to give them some time to digest simple types of problems.
I have also given suggestions of two websites which could be used to show students what the solids of revolution will look like.
This could also be used as an introduction to the Volumes of Solids of Revolution lessons in calculus.
