This activity requires students to utilize their formulas for calculating the area of different two-dimensional geometric figures. Students will be given the opportunity to put a creative spin on the project, as they will be calculating the area of hearts and words to make a Valentine. There is a student example in the preview. You will notice the word LOVE as well as hearts that contain specific measurements - these are the items in which students will be working to compute area. They will work the problems on a guided worksheet that is included in this package.
Included in this package is a handout that contains the word LOVE in two different sizes. The word is made out of geometric shapes: trapezoids, triangles, rectangles, and circles. Students will calculate the area of the LOVE in their Valentine.
Included in this package are 2 handouts that have various hearts of different sizes. Students will calculate the area of at least 2 hearts that they include in their Valentine.
Included in this package is a rubric and an answer key.
I hope you "love" it!
