This PowerPoint presentation examines the administration of George W. Bush. It begins with a brief explanation of the controversial election of 2000, including the role of the Supreme Court in the case of Bush v. Gore. It then spends some time looking at Bush's first term domestic agenda including tax cuts and No Child Left Behind. Much of the presentation examines the terror attack of 9/11 and the resulting "War on Terror" discussing military involvement both in Afghanistan and Iraq. In doing so it includes brief examinations of the PATRIOT Act, and the questionable use of torture. It concludes with a look at the "Great Recession" and the efforts of Bush and Congress to turn the economy around. This presentation is used in an A.P. United States history class and is based, in part on Chapter 41 of The American Pageant, 17th Edition.
