Have you ever asked one of your littles ones to tell you the name of the first president of the United States of America, and he or she says: “Christopher Columbus!”
Hopefully, my George Washington materials will help young children to remember the name of the father of our country! I’ve created a small book for children to color and read independently! There is a color and a B&W version. I’ve kept the text very easy, to motivate my students to re-read it often and therefore, increase memory retention.
I’ve also included an adorable craft of George Washington in his white wig, with a writing paper to display next to it. The writing prompt is: If I were president of the United States of America … These stories are often times hilarious! Since a picture “conveys a million words”, I’ve included a picture of my bulletin board with the craft and the writing.
This is the perfect unit for TK or kindergarten, and I added a few more pages with writing prompts for use in first grade too! “I cannot tell a lie,” as Washington would say, “I believe you’ll LOVE these activities!”
