Product Description
Best ELA checklist which BREAKS DOWN the complicated verbiage of a standard to make it easier for educators to teach and students to understand.

After using this checklist in my classroom, I saw that this was an excellent way for students to TAKE OWNERSHIP of their own learning and also a way for me to see which students need extra support.

HOW THE CHECKLIST WORKS
After returning a class assessment/independent work, students will check the standards-based questions from the assessment. If they answered the question correctly, they can fill-in the "GOT IT" box. If they missed the question, they will write a PERSONAL GOAL in order to show that they will work on understanding the standard. Examples for creating goals can be: retake a test, before or after school tutoring, extra homework assignment, etc. Once they have completed the goal they can check the second "GOT IT" box.

Even more Ideas for using the checklist:
-resource for students to see what areas they need to work on as they study for STANDARDIZED testing at the end of the year
-guide for teachers as they plan for review activities at the end of the year
-interactive notebook
-a way to show student effort/motivation in the classroom during parent-teacher conferences
-hole punched for binder usage
-guide for creating purposeful lesson plans & assessments
-standards that has been broken down to simple "I can statements" for students
-guide for writing "I can statements" on the board (as directed by some admin.)
