This is an 14 page interactive and visually appealing reading guide for a Georgia Studies unit on the 20th Century, from the early 1900s - 1940s.. It is meant as an overview of the basic information needed and is aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards. Throughout the reading guide, students will be prompted to answer questions, make inferences, analyze cause and effect, or simply define a vocabulary word or event
Many topics are included such as: reasons for WWI, Georgia’s contributions to WWI, WWI changes in America, the Roaring Twenties, effects of the 1920s in Georgia, the Great Depression, surviving the Great Depression, Roosevelt’s New Deal programs, Roosevelt’s fireside chats, Ga governors, World War II, post WWII, and other famous Georgians.
A 3 page student handout is included. I divide up the reading guide into 2 lessons. After students complete the reading, they can then build upon the content, if desired, by assigning additional research or projects to compliment the unit.
Students say that the reading guides are helpful, interesting, and easy to understand. Hope you find them useful as well!
